Frequently Asked Questions

Where does the name "FortySixTen Studios" come from?
We'll let the boss handle this one: "From my favorite Bible verse, Psalm 46:10 - "Be still, and know that I am God." It's a constant reminder to slow down and let God handle things in my life, because He's much better at it than I am. When I try to drive, I have a tendency to run into trees and telephone poles."

Office hours from ten to five? What's with the banker's hours?
Those are actually just kind of guidelines. The actual work environment here at FortySixTen Studios is very free-form. We feel that takes the pressure off of everyone and allows an environment where creativity can thrive. The boss might also be too cheap to pay for an office when everyone can just telecommute, too. There is that.

How much will our project cost?
We won't have any idea until we talk to you. Because each project and client are different, it's hard for us to put any sort of meaningful pricing table up here. Once we talk to a prospective client and get a basic feel for the project we give an estimate, and as we narrow down the site's specifics we're able to give a more accurate, final quote.

Why do you price by the project and not by the hour?
We feel that doing so gives us the freedom to take our time with the project and experiment to make sure everything is just right, while still making sure our clients get great work at a fair price. Everybody wins.

What if you finish and find you priced the project too high?
Then you get some money back. Simple, huh?

What if you price the project too low? Will you just charge me more?
Nope. If we price the project too low, we'll just eat the price difference. Shame on us for not estimating more accurately.

What's your E-Mail Privacy Policy?
The short version is that we hate spam (the unsolicited e-mail, not the somewhat tasty spiced meatish product) as much as anyone else does. The long version is as follows:

Trust us, you're safe here.

Are you hiring? Are you looking for new contractors to work with?
We are currently accepting resumes, and we're always looking for new contractors to work with. If you're interested in either an in-house position or work as an independent contractor, please drop us a line using the form on the page and we'll get back with you.
